Olive Shoppe & Ginger Grater
Olive Shoppe/Ginger Grater

Two great stores in one location! In December 2006, the Olive Shoppe acquired the Ginger Grater from retiring Patti & Patty, and joined them together to create a truly unique setting.
Both shops are native to La Conner for over 16 years and offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
The Ginger Grater has many hard to find kitchen tools, gadgets, linens and high end glassware. It also features well known local and Northwest jams and jellies, in an old country mercantile setting.
The Olive Shoppe specializes in over 140 types if olives from around the world. Olives are all natural with no artificial chemicals or preservatives. We also carry around 50 types if extra virgin olive oils and also have many balsamic types of vinegar.
We, Gregg and Roberta Westover (owners) hand pick each product to assure quality and freshness. It also features a tasting bar, where guests can sample the olives, oils, and vinegars before purchasing.

Wild Turkeys Running the La Conner Streets on Thanksgiving Morning

Not only do the Seniors at La Conner Retirement Inn support the La Conner Skateboard Park as reported by the Skagit Valley Herald and the Seattle Times, but so does the business community, the town council, and the residents. Recently the town council voted to approve a partnership with the school district to build the La Conner Skate Park.

The 2nd Annual Turkey Trot is supported by the business community who has donated money, prizes, and supplies for the annual turkey trot. Business owners, residents, and community leaders will be running this year. “Our goal for the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot is to have over 100 participants” said Head Turkey and PTA president Kelly Harper.

The 5K race is on Thanksgiving Morning, November 26th, 2009 starting at 8:30 am at the La Conner Middle School. Registration starts at 7:30 am and is available the day of the race or you can pre-register. The La Conner Turkey Trot is a non-competitive race as participants predict their time with the closet predictions being the winners. No watches allowed turkeys! Cost is $10 per racer or $30 per family and donations gladly accepted. Bring your entire family and join us for a pre-turkey race to support a great cause for kids.

Caution: Wild Turkeys may be on the race course.
